How to buy
Buying a home should feel clear, not daunting.
Here is exactly how it works, from your first enquiry to the day you turn the key. No surprises, and a real person with you at every step.
Step by step
The buying process
- 1
Enquire and register your interest
Tell us which home or development has caught your eye, and a real person from our team gets in touch to answer your questions and understand what you are after. - 2
View or visit the display
See a completed home or display in person where one is available, or walk through the plans and specifications with us so you know exactly what you are buying. - 3
Reserve your home
When you have found the one, we hold it for you while the paperwork is prepared. Reserving takes it off the market so you can move forward with confidence. - 4
Sign the agreement and pay your deposit
You sign the Sale and Purchase Agreement and pay a 10% deposit, usually held in a trust account. We recommend your solicitor reviews the agreement first, and we are happy to give them the time to do that. - 5
Finance goes unconditional
Once your finance is confirmed and any conditions are satisfied, the agreement becomes unconditional. For a completed home this can be quick. For an off-the-plan home there is time to arrange while the build progresses. - 6
Settlement and your keys
On settlement day the balance is paid and the home is yours. For a new build this happens once the Code Compliance Certificate, the CCC, is issued, so you move into a home that is signed off and ready.
A note on finance and help available
The First Home Grant was discontinued in May 2024. The KiwiSaver First Home Withdrawal and the Kainga Ora First Home Loan are still available, and both can make a real difference to getting in. Everyone is different, so talk to us early and we will help you work out what fits your situation.
